“Life in the Mess: Theology of Forgiveness and Reconciliation”. (Course x2 Yes!)

I’ve been wanting to retake or audit this class ever since I took it the first time way back when I began my seminary journey(2008?) as a part time student. I consider it God’s perfect timing in retaking this now.

Topics include:
“Cheapening of forgiveness”, “Contemporary Models of forgiveness”
“Problems associated…” “beyond forgiveness”
“A theological foundation for forgiveness and reconciliation”
“Reconciliation & Creation”, “Reconciliation & Eschatology”
“Ministry of Reconciliation”, “Cycle of Reconciliation”
“Peace- Shalom (well-being)”, “Cycles of Reconciliation”
“Shortcutting Reconciliation”, Among other topics…

🎓Since Graduating this past year, I am now eligible to audit one class for free each year as an alumni. (Ie partaking in lectures, discussion, notes etc without the requirement of writing papers for credit this time around) . Out of all the classes, this one stood out to me as the most impactful. It may seem strange to utilize that perk towards a class I already took, but it’s been on my heart for over a decade as one I’d love to take again. Our professor has added a few new resources that are culturally relevant including various forms of reconciliation needed like Canada’s TRC Calls to Action (2015)/ What we Have Learned. As a believer in Jesus Christ, I have been aching to unpack these principles in a space where I can engage & wrestle with truth grace and the need for Justice together.

Life is messy because our fallen world is.

What I am gleaning thus far is it’s all about healthy - restored relationship(s).There’s spiritual reconciliation and relational reconciliation. Massive topics that requires a ton of heart/mind focus no doubt.
